Santos’ 2011/12 season was a glittering period highlighted by international acclaim and the brilliance of Neymar, who led the team during one of its most exciting modern eras.

Under Muricy Ramalho, Santos won the 2011 Copa Libertadores, their first since 1963, defeating Peñarol 2–1 on aggregate in the final. Neymar, Paulo Henrique Ganso, and Elano were central to the club’s attacking style, while goalkeeper Rafael and defender Durval anchored the back line.

Later that year, Santos competed in the FIFA Club World Cup, reaching the final but losing 4–0 to Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona.

Domestically, they finished mid-table in the 2011 Brasileirão but captured the 2012 Campeonato Paulista, confirming Santos as Brazil’s most entertaining and star-studded side of the era.
