Paris Saint-Germain’s 1992/93 season was a major turning point — the start of their rise as a dominant force in French football under the new Canal+ ownership.
Managed by Artur Jorge, PSG assembled one of the strongest squads in France, featuring stars like David Ginola, George Weah, Raí (who joined later), Paul Le Guen, and Antoine Kombouaré.
They finished 2nd in Division 1, just behind Marseille, but that title was later tainted by OM’s match-fixing scandal (though it was not officially awarded to PSG). The team also reached the UEFA Cup semifinals, defeating Real Madrid memorably 4–1 at the Parc des Princes.
The 1992/93 season marked the true beginning of PSG’s golden 1990s era — stylish, ambitious, and internationally respected.
