Bolivia’s 1994 season was one of the most significant in the nation’s football history, as they participated in the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1950.

Under coach Xabier Azkargorta, Bolivia qualified impressively from the South American group, famously defeating Brazil 2–0 in La Paz — Brazil’s first-ever loss in World Cup qualifying.
